Daddy’s Home Special School, Margao celebrated its 26th Annual Day with a hugely packed auditorium at its Gogol premises on Sunday. Students ably guided by the staff showcased their talent of music, dance and acting skills. The kids with special needs entertained and enthralled the crowds with Punjabi cultural dances, Broadway acts, mimicry, performances on Hollywood and Bollywood songs and even did a special performance enacting one of Mr Bean’s works.

The school founded in 1989 by Fr Valmiki Dias with just 12 kids, today has 100 kids enrolled who learn not just to develop their intellectual skills but are also provided vocational training which includes cooking, baking and housekeeping. All programmes put on stage including the snacks sold at the counters were all put together by the students of Daddy’s home. Guest which included businessmen, industrialist, politicians, former Chief Minister, parents, students and prominent members of society were amazed at the works of the children and the staff of Daddy’s home.

The school celebrated its 25th Silver Jubilee last year in a grand manner which coincided with Fr Valmiki starting construction of his Old Age home for the elderly and adults with special needs which includes adults with learning disabilities, autistic and Down syndrome adults.

The 26th annual Day was a fun day filled with music, laughter, dancing, humor and joy as the kids performed on stage to entertain their parents and the audience from across Goa for which they have been meticulously planning for weeks. “We start teaching our kids their performances in September and with every set of vacations they forget their sequences but it’s the effort of my teachers and the staff that we reinforce and teach these lovely kids every day and that's the fruit, the beautiful smiles and expressions they showcase on stage, every year,” exclaimed a cheerful Fr Valmiki Dias.
