Behind every group taking the stage at the First World Konkani Music Convention is a story of preparation, dedication, and a shared love for Konkani music. As 53 Goan teams come together for the Guinness World Record attempt, Day 3 highlights groups that have come together not just to be part of a world record but also to celebrate their language, music, and shared roots.

Led by Fr Milagres, the Melodians bring together young singers from the parishes of Curtorim and Benaulim. What began with a few choir members grew into a team united by music and a desire to keep Konkani alive. For them, the opportunity to perform alongside 53 Goan teams is a celebration of their roots. "This is not just about breaking a record but a historic celebration of unity, Goan pride and the power of youth," the group says. Calling Konkani amchi mai bhaas, they add that they are heading to Mangalore with "power, dynamic energy, and absolute quality."

For De Amor, a group of friends who participate in Mando competitions every year, the journey has always been about keeping the traditional musical form alive. Worrel D'Souza says the group was formed to ensure the continuity of Mando and has since won the Mando award for two consecutive years. Being part of the record attempt is another memorable milestone. "We formed this group of friends so that we could keep the continuity of Mando," says D'Souza, adding that it is "a great opportunity for us and something that will always remain a memory."

For Bhatpalchem Surangan, led by Fr Derrick Pereira, the opportunity to perform outside Goa has added to the excitement. Although bringing the team together and preparing for the event involved several hardships, the group feels privileged to be part of the first such attempt. "They are very excited to participate and sing because this is outside Goa," says Fr Pereira. Acknowledging the scale of the event and its expected television coverage, he adds, "It is a huge event, and we cannot take it lightly."

The journey for Hortencio's Melodic Singers from Curchorem, led by Hortencio Pereira, has been one of persistence. Starting rehearsals on August 20, 2026, Pereira spent several days putting together 10 male and 10 female singers. However, several participants backed out after initially confirming, making the process difficult. "There were moments when I felt very low, but finally, God gave me the best group," he says. With the team putting in extra effort during the last few weeks, the singers are now looking forward to the performance. "We are all excited to be part of this greatest event and look forward to taking the stage and giving our very best," Pereira adds.

From friends keeping the Mando alive to young singers celebrating their mother tongue and teams overcoming challenges to reach the stage, each group brings a different story to the convention. While the Guinness World Record attempt gives them a common goal, their shared love for Konkani music is what brings them together. Beyond the record, the experience promises to leave them with memories, friendships, and a sense of pride in being part of a collective celebration of their musical heritage.
