India Today decided to put Baba Ramdev on their cover for their recent edition. That was news enough. What was even more thrilling, for many, was the way the cover was shot. Photographer Bandeep Singh remembered a statement by Ramdev, where he said he would make all MNC executives do a shirshasana or ulta. So Singh got the man in orange to do a Prasarita Padottanasana on a few cartons of Patanjali.
What he didn’t know was how crazy the internet would get. Many people put up memes of Ramdev diving into a pool, playing goalkeeper and more. It was all in good spirit and no one from the Baba Ramdev camp seems to have been offended by this, which is a good thing. After all, no publicity is bad publicity, and when something is taken with a pinch of salt, it just becomes a great joke at the lunch table.
Of course, now people are wondering how Ramdev’s beard is defying gravity. Perhaps there’s a solution in one of their Patanjali products to make beards strong and robust enough. One day, we’ll know the answer.
