The year 2018 was star-studded with many high-flying weddings. Beginning with the Virat-Anushka duo, we had Dipika-Ranveer (DeepVeer), Priyanka-Nick (Niyanka) and as if to top the cake off with a cherry, the wealthiest came in the last-Isha Ambani and Anand Parimal. Their pre-wedding celebration itself was like a galaxy full of stars with guests such as Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas. Former US First Lady Hillary Clinton was also in attendance, and Beyonce performed at the Sangeet ceremony!
But having Bollywood and Hollywood stars in attendance was not the high point of the celebration. The hallmark was the entire Amabani family including Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani and his wife Nita Ambani, danced to the song ‘Gujju’ from ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’. As the Ambani family too the stage, even the Bollywood heavyweights were left to cheer from the sidelines. The two-day long celebrations, which were held at The Oberoi Udaivilas in Udaipur, also had a Goa connection. Dattaraj Salgaonkar, who is the brother-in-law of Anil and Mukesh was also seen joining the Ambanis on stage.
Nita Ambani and her sons Anant and Akash also danced to the song ‘Maahi Ve’ from the film ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’ , and the bride and groom Isha Ambani and her fiancé Anand Piramal danced to the song ‘Mitwa’ from ‘Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna’ at their pre-wedding celebrations in Udaipur. They were later joined by Isha’s family members on stage, who danced to a song from ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’.The couple will get married at Ambani’s Mumbai residence Antilia on December 12.
If the pre-wedding ceremony was this big, one can only imagine how the wedding will be. Given the power and clout that the Ambanis wield, it would certainly be an event that would be remembered for years to come.
