Ambora trounced Uzro 5-0 to emerge champions of Camorlim Village Panchayat Cup inter ward football tournament in a one-sided final at village Panchayat Ground, Camorlim on Sunday.
Ambora dominated the proceedings and pushed their opponents back throughout the match. Charles Dias opened the floodgates in the fifth minute and Uzro struggled to keep up with their pacey rivals and were confined to their own half. Neves Cardozo doubled the lead in the 10th minute.
Anthony Dias punted the ball to the far corner of the net in the 12th minute, 3-0. Four minutes later, Sheldon Antao increased their tally as Ambora went into the break with a commanding 4-0 lead. The second half did not bring any relief to the Uzro lads as their opponents attacked them from both the flanks. Joel Cardozo drove the last nail into the rival coffin and the final whistle brought a big relief for the battered Uzro team.
Basilio Fernandes, Sarpanch of VP Camorlim, was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of Elvis Dias, Deputy Sarpanch and other panchas.
