CW’s action television series Arrow hasn’t necessarily been at its best in recent seasons. A scattered narrative and an overabundance of new characters have weighed down its typically solid story, diverting much-needed focus away from our titular hero.
Season 5 will look to get the series back on track, and the latest trailer teases at a commitment toward improvement. We see Oliver still reeling from the death of Laurel Lance, even going so far as to do away with his strict “no killing” policy.
Meanwhile, he’s doing what he can to reassemble his shattered team, filling the ranks of Team Arrow with a host of new trainees and playing by a new set of rules. A different kind of dynamic follows, as Oliver tries to teach these new vigilantes the superhero basics.
We’ll also be getting new villains, including a mysterious archer ominously stating, “the Green Arrow is mine.” The pieces are there for an improved season which from the looks of it promises to be one of the most exciting of the series. The flashbacks will have run their course, Oliver will have presumably come full circle from where he began, and we'll find out just where he got all that hair from the opening scene of the pilot. We’ll just have to see if Arrow can assemble them together when it finally debuts this week.
