The annual feast of 'Piddeancho Khuris' or Feast of the Miraculous Cross was celebrated at Monte de Boa Vista in Old Goa on February 23 to commemorate the Apparition of Jesus on the Cross which happened in 1619. A mass was held near the ruined convent of the Congregation of the Oratory of St Philip Neri where St Jose Vaz was once an oratorian. After the mass, canji was served to the parishioners reminisecent of the time when Jose Vaz was said to have survived on canji in Sri Lanka and also fed the same to hungree devotees on the island.
