Kala Academy Goa will celebrate Gomant Rangabhoomi Din on August 23, which is otherwise celebrated on July 15 every year, on the birth anniversary celebration of Goan saint poet and playwright late Krishnambhatt Bandkar. The function will be held at 5pm, Dinanath Mangeshkar Kala Mandir, Kala Academy Complex in Panaji.
A well-known theatre personality and state cultural awardee of government of Maharashtra, Suresh alias Baba Parsekar will be the chief guest whereas Govind Gaude, minister for Art and Culture (Goa) as well as chairman of Kala Academy will preside over the function. Daulat Hawaldar, IAS, secretary (Finance, Art and Culture) (Goa) will be the guest of honour.
On this occasion, Krishnambhat Bandkar Puraskars of Gomant Rangbhoomi Din and Rangsanman Puraskars of World Theatre Day for the year 2017 and 2018 will be presented to Goan theatre personalities who have rendered their yeomen contribution to theatre in various capacities like acting, direction, music direction, technical support etc, will be felicitated on this occasion.
Krishnambhat Bandkar Puraskar carries an amount of Rs 15,000 each whereas Rangsanman Puraskar carries an amount of Rs 20,000 each, besides mementoes, shreefal and shawl. The recipients of Krishnambhat Bandkar Puraskar for the year 2017 are Ashwini Zambaulikar, Tulshidas Laxman Raut, Namdev Shet, Shivaji Ganpat Desai, Ramkrishna Surlakar and Narayan (Nana) Asolkar, whereas for the year 2018 includes Vinayak Desai, Narayan Laxman Naik, Keshav Kamat, Ramanand K Joshi, Raghuvir Savordekar and Mangala Jambale.
The recipients of Rangsanman Puraskar for the year 2017 are Gauri Avudhut Kamat, Rajeev Hede, Prasad Gurav, Dnyanesh Moghe, Eknath Mahadev Naik Mangeshkar and Jyoti Kunkoliekar whereas for the year 2018 the list includes Raghunath Sinai Sacordeker,Rajesh Pednekar, Samradni Marathe, Digambar Parab, Prashant Mardolkar and Jeevan Mayekar.
The felicitation function will be followed by a play Aahe Manohar Tari to be staged by Natya Mohini, Mardol. The play is directed by well-known Goan director and theatre artist Prashant Mardolkar. The programme is open to all. Kala Academy appeals general public and theatre lovers to attend the function and also to witness the play in large numbers.
