There are good comedies, bad comedies and really great comedies. We’re not sure which category this next movie slots into, but judging by the trailer we’re not sure it’s going to be a great comedy. However, give CHiPs a chance. Yes, that word with the small ‘i’ in the middle is the name of the film and stands for California Highway Patrol, or something like that. CHiPs was actually an old television show from the 1970s, that is now adapted into a movie by an actor called Dax Shepard, who also stars in one of the main roles, along with Michael Pena. Shepard is better known for being Kristen Bell’s wife. Yes, THAT Kristen Bell. Lucky fellow. So anyway, Pena and Shepard play two highway patrol cops, but all is not well at the department. There’s corruption and more involved and Pena is actually an FBI agent while Shepard is trying to save his marriage by being a hard worker (Bell plays his wife in the film). There are chases, stupid jokes, slapstick scenes and more. This looks like a college movie that is re-scripted to resonate with adults. We’re not sure how the movie will end but it doesn’t really look like Shepard is going to have a better career than his wife to be honest.
