Strains of some of the most wonderful works of classical musician Vivaldi, including one of his masterpieces ‘Gloria’ will echo within the walls of the Institute Menezes Braganza (IBM) in the state capital.
Child’s Play (India) Foundation will be presenting a choir from Sistema Sweden, the Sangforeningen Qohr, which is being led by Cecilia Q. Ohrwall. The concert will be held today evening at 6.30 p.m. at IMB hall in Panaji.
It will also feature Child’s Play’s children’s choir and adult community choir led by Nicky Manlove, with an eclectic offering that includes Vivaldi’s stunning Gloria and other sacred works as well as songs from the popular repertoire.
The Swedish choir will perform sacred music as well as Enst Toch’s entertaining Geographical Fugue, Cat Stevens’ Peace Train and folk and pop songs from Sweden.
The forces will combine at the end to sing some soul-stirring anthems of peace and love, popular with Sistema Sweden. For those interested in attending this charitable event, donation passes can be availed of. The passes are available at Furtado’s Music stores. This concert is in support of Child’s Play India Foundation, which is a registered music charity that seeks to instil positive values and provide social empowerment to India’s disadvantaged children through the teaching of classical music.
