Back in the 80s, 90s and even into the 2000s, most coming of age movies, those that dealt with the angst and travails of the younger generation, were all set in high school or college. There we saw love and more blossom and we also identified with those characters because at the time, the viewers were also dealing with something similar. So when we came across an interesting movie, based on similar lines, but set in middle school, which is the Indian equivalent of, say, standard five, we were intrigued. The movie is called Middle School and is touted as a teen comedy. But those teens looks far younger than the teens we are used to watching. It’s not often that you have a bunch of young boys and girls in their early teens dealing with troublesome principals, strict teachers and more. There are some crazy graphics in the movie, as the main young actor is an avid cartoonist. No love interests are shown in the trailer, but we highly doubt they’ll do a movie like that without some sort of strong romantic angle somewhere. The movie is based on a bestselling book called Middle School: The Worst Years Of My Life, so perhaps the clue will be in the book. Or should we just forget about reading it and watch the movie? Anyone read the book and want to help us out? *sigh*
