The Entertainment Society of Goa in association with the department of Public Health Dentistry, Goa Dental College and Hospital is organizing the 3rd Goa Anti-Tobacco Film Festival 2019 on May 31 which is observed as World No Tobacco Day every year.
The prize distribution ceremony will be held at 5.30 pm. Chief minister Dr Pramod Sawant will be the chief guest and Dr Ida De Noronha De Ataide, dean, Goa Dental College and Hospital will be the guest of honour for the function. Prize distribution will be followed by the screening of award winning Ad films at auditorium 1, Maquinez Palace, ESG, Panaji. The aim of this festival is to select Ad Films to spread the message of harmful or ill effects of tobacco use and also to decrease the occurrence of oral cancer and lung disease in keeping with this year’s theme ‘Tobacco and Lung Health’ and to make Goa smoke free.
The competition was held in two sections - Goa section and national section. The prizes for Ad films in Goa section are: First prize (Rs 50,000), second prize (Rs 30,000) and third prize (Rs 20,000). For national section, the prize money was Rs 1,00,000, Rs 50,000 and 30,000 as first, second and third prize respectively.
There were 12 entries received in the Goa section Ad film category and seven entries received in the national section Ad film category. The award winning films in both the categories will be used for promotions of anti-tobacco ad campaigns in cinema theatres across the State, television channels, schools, colleges and other government departmental programmes in Goa.
