Poetry workshop at Bookworm

TGLife

It’s all about poetry and life around us. A workshop on poetry by Rochelle Potkar to be held on June 8 at Bookworm at Panaji will be open to both beginners and those who are more experienced writers and for anyone who wants to write and/or appreciate poetry.

“We all have stories to tell. We have all gazed upon a star-spangled sky, or looked into the eyes of a lover, or felt the wind on a hot summers day and searched for the right words to express how we felt in that moment,” says Rochelle who would be conducting the workshop. Recently moved to Goa, Rochelle has been a part of numerous literary fests and has performed on stages across India, Australia, Malaysia and Nepal.

“This is a workshop about finding your voice, and finding those words and telling your stories through poetry. Spoken word/performance poetry is a dynamic art form. It leaves room for the poet to become the poem and allows the listener to truly experience the poetry,” states Rochelle who writes about her travels, cultural influences and personal experiences. Her poems give voice to feelings of displacement, love and loss. She curates storytelling experiences and workshops.  Rochelle’s solo collection of poems, ‘When Home Is An Idea’ has been widely appreciated as a conduit to talk about identity and belonging. Both her spoken word albums (A Thin Veneer of Coping and Best Apology Face) are available on Bandcamp/iTunes/Spotify. (One can follow her work at http://rochelledsilva.in/)
