Upset with the erratic water and power supply in their ward, locals of Chinchwada ward in Chimbel submitted a memorandum to St Cruz MLA Tony Fernandes requesting his intervention in the matter and resolve the issues to provide reprieve for the locals.
Some of the locals met the MLA at his residence in Santa Cruz on Thursday evening and highlighted how water supply to many households in the area is erratic.
“And to add to the problem, the PWD contract workers and the supervisor are at loggerheads with each other due to which the people have to suffer,” a local Ana Gracias informed the MLA.
“The power supply too is erratic as power goes off at regular intervals, which causes great inconvenience to the locals in the hot summer season,” Gracias further added.
Giving a patient ear to the grievances, MLA Fernandes assured that he would take an appointment with the water as well as power officials and work out a permanent solution to the problems faced by the locals. “Till the time that I get an appointment, I will direct the officials to instruct the staff to work in tandem so that the locals do not face hardships,” he added.
