A sub-adult leopard was found killed on the state highway at Raia on late Thursday.
The leopard was apparently killed after it was hit by a vehicle. It was found lying in a pool of blood after sustaining serious head injuries.
The incident is believed to have taken place at around 10.30 pm. Forest officials who rushed to the spot informed that the dead wild cat was a sub-adult leopard.
Officials will take a call whether to conduct the post morten examination tonight or on Friday.
A forest official that the forest range in the past had played host to leopards before the hills were cut disturbing the habitat of animals.
