Discovery of darkness

Discovery of darkness

The new trailer is out for Nicolas Pesce’s The Eyes of My Mother, the black-and-white horror tale which wowed them at Fantastic Fest last month and is scoring a limited theatrical release, and VOD on Amazon Video, and iTunes on December 2.

In their secluded farmhouse, a mother, formerly a surgeon in Portugal, teaches her daughter, Francisca (Kika Magalhaes), to understand anatomy and be unfazed by death. One afternoon, a mysterious visitor horrifyingly shatters the idyll of Francisca’s family life, deeply traumatizing the young girl, but also awakening some unique curiosities.

Though she clings to her increasingly reticent father, Francisca’s loneliness and scarred nature converge years later when her longing to connect with the world around her takes on a distinctly dark form.

The new trailer is disturbing enough, so I can only imagine how deep and dark the movie itself might get. It’s also more of a teaser trailer, showing peeks at a couple of scenes from the movie mixed with some accolades. The first trailer, which was released in September, was much more of an actual trailer.

Scan the QR code to watch the trailer. However, be warned, this is not something that can be unseen.
