Dalgado Konknni Akademi (DKA) has announced its annual literary competitions for writers in Konkani in Roman Script. The Competitions will be held for writing original poems, essays, short stories and one act plays. The rules and regulations of participating in these competitions are as follows:
Essay writing competition: The essays should be at least of 1000 words and can be written on any subject. The best three essays will be awarded cash prizes of Rs 5,000, Rs 4,000 and Rs 3,000 besides certificates.
Short story writing competition: The short story should consist of at least 1500 words and must be original. The first three prize winning short stories will be awarded with cash prizes of Rs 7,000, Rs 5,000 and Rs 3,000 respectively besides certificates.
One act plays competition: The script of the one act play should be such that if staged the said one act play should be of the duration of not less than 25 minutes and not more than 35 minute. Cash prizes of Rs 8,000, Rs 6,000 and Rs 4,000 will be awarded to the first three best one act plays.
Poetry (Kovita) writing competition: The poem submitted for competition should be new and original composition. The prize winning poems will get Rs 3,000, Rs 2,000 and Rs 1,000 besides certificates.
Those interested in participating in these competitions they should send their essays/short stories/ one act plays/poems written in Konkani in Roman Script to the secretary, Dalgado Konknni Academy, 2nd Floor, Old Education Department Building, near Pharmacy College, Panaji on or before November 10. Different panel of judges will judge and select the prize winners. Their decision will be final.
