Exploring Goan heritage through digital media

In line with our ongoing exhibit, the Giant Dolls House, where multitudes of stories were viewed through shoe-box homes made by various communities in Goa, Museum of Goa (MOG) will be presenting another completely unique take on Goa and its heritage.

MOG is hosting an exhibition of digital heritage by presenting the artworks developed by Future Fiction from May 10-12. The exhibition titled Digital Heritage Play Lab encourages the people to explore Goan Heritage through emergent media experiences and platforms.

Through a gallery of Heritage Playthings - featuring augmented reality, virtual reality, 360 film, gamification, app design and trans-media storytelling - the exhibition aims to bridge the gap between Goan heritage and modern audiences.

A highlight of the exhibition is an interactive storytelling Smartphone App for discovering Panjim, arising from collaboration with prominent writer, Vivek Menezes, as the participants will discover the charming city through an entertaining narrative of nine of his favourite locations.

Digital Heritage Play Lab is developed by Future Fiction, a platform that addresses the future of Indian digital expressions by exploring emerging technology and builds content for the new media landscape in India. These explorations are an intricate pillar of programming for Future Fiction -a new platform produced by Quicksand Design Studio.

Through a series of events spread across different formats Future Fiction preempts emerging trends in digital creativity and the Digital Heritage Play Lab is an attempt in that direction.

The exhibition will conclude with - A talk on Digital Heritage by Avinash Kumar - Co-Founder, Quicksand Design Studio at May 11, 7pm. The talk is free of charges and open to all. The exhibition will be open for viewing from May 10-12, 10am- 6pm.
