Earth, Sand and Fire: The Consequences - An exhibition of handcrafted ceramics and glass by Ramdas Gadekar and Nandini Datta will be inaugurated on January 18 at 7 pm at Carpe Dieum, Majorda. The exhibition will be open between 10 am to 7 until February 5.
Ramdas Gadekar admits, “Through my ceramic creations I attempt to integrate the interdisciplinary forms of murals, print making and hand built pottery to express my ideas and thoughts.” Beginning with his recent series of ceramic art based on the colonial influence on Goan architecture this exhibition aims to showcase familiar facades seen in Goa. “I have also tried to highlight the local aquatic life found in our sea, our rivers and lakes - and essential part of our ecology and diet,” states Gadekar.
Clay and glass have given the opportunity to express Nandini Datta through colours, shapes, textures and forms. She enjoys working with both mediums as they give her a free rein to create interesting pieces which are abstract and fun. “My pieces are handmade and the final finish is a combination of slab and coil construction, modelling and mould making, carving, painting, glazing ad firing,” shares Datta.
