For years now, Banglanatak dot com has been working towards making folk art popular and creating capacity building in rural community groups through unique innovations.
Here’s an opportunity for Goans to see what they are all about and the relevance of folk art. Banglanatak dot com is hosting a Goa Bengal folk mela at Ravindra Bhavan in Margao until March 12 from 4 pm to 9 p.m.
At the mela, nearly 150 rural artists of Bengal will be presenting their handicrafts and 10 different folk performing arts which include puppetry, Baul, Chau, Natua and Raibeshe. Folk artists from Goa will also be joining in the mela along with their Bengali cultural cousins. Banglanatak dot com will also be putting together lively folk performances, which will commence from 6:30 pm. onwards. The folk performances are open to one and all.
Banglanatak dot com is a social enterprise working across India with a mission to foster pro-poor growth and protection of rights of women, children and indigenous communities. They specialise in communication for development and in using theatre and developing community-led creative industries based on intangible cultural heritage like performing arts and crafts.
