Galgibaga Beach

Galgibaga Beach
Captured by : pick 1

A typical Goan beach is booming with shacks, tourists, music, party, small vendors, stall selling memoirs and clothing etc. But, Galgibaga Beach in Cancona, south Goa, defies these preconceptions. The uniqueness of this beach lies in its quietude, unlike most beaches. Interestingly, you wont a single shack on this beach, and there relatively mot many tourists vising it. There are just a few restaurants located at a little distance from the soft sands.

This is beach is also famous for being the southern turtle nestling site, Morjim beach being the northern one. If you visit the beach between the months of December and February, you may be lucky to see some turtle eggs. But, it is prohibited to touch them. As for the rest of the year, you may be lucky to see Olive Ridley turtles sunbathing or crawling about the beach.

The sea too is safe for swimming, thought it is advised not to venture too far out and the undercurrent could be strong. Moreover, there are lifeguards to ensure safety of the people.

This beach is quite an ideal one for a private picnic. Not that the whole beach is just to yourself, but the number of visitors there are relatively minimum. Also trees lining the beach provide shade to set up your tents and enjoy a relaxing siesta, after a warm swim in the waters. All you got to do is carry your food, drinks, towel, hammock (if you like), summing suit, sun screen, shades etc., set out for a picnic at this beach and leave the rest upto nature magic! If your ideal beach day-out is spend it in quietude, enjoy the voices of nature, meditate on the vastness of the horizon, observe the dance of the waves, then this is the beach for you!
