If you’ve grown up in the nineties, then Jamaican-American singer Orville Richard Burrell, better known by his stage name 'Shaggy', has undoubtedly been your musical jam.

Best known for being the biggest crossover success in dance hall reggae, 47 year old Shaggy (he is turning 48 tomorrow, October 22), who got his name in kindergarten because he wore his hair like Shaggy dog, will be performing in Mumbai and Pune before making his way to our tiny state on October 23 for a live performance at Quinta de Valadares, Verna.

BOX QUOTE

With music unabashedly geared toward good times and catchy party anthems, Shaggy has been creating hits for over 20 years. Over the course of his career he has released 12 studio albums and quite a few singles including the Grammy Award winningReggae Album 1995, followed by hit singles like Day Oh in 1996, It Wasn't Me (featuring Rikrok) in 2000, Angel featuring Rayvon in 2001, Hey Sexy Lady in 2002, Strength of a Woman in 2003, etc.

Last year, Shaggy released his latest single, Only Love featuring Pitbull and Gene Noble and dedicated to all the women in the world in need of some positivity. However, it's live performances he loves the best. And if his songs are any indication, his concerts will be extremely energetic and fun-filled. And fans who grew up listening to the Grammy winner are surely looking forward to dancing and singing along to the classics that catapulted him to fame and worldwide popularity.

1995's Boombastic, It wasn't Me, Hey Sexy Lady and Angel make you still want to sing and dance along, you're definitely going to want to be there.

To his Indian fans Shaggy says,

"The India crowd always has a great vibe and energy. We’ve had a great relationship over the years. So thank you for a wonderful ride. To the new ones coming on board, I hope we have a long and prosperous relationship and hang on to the coat-tail because you're going to love it!"

QUOTES

I'm definitely looking forward to having a boombastic time (pun intented) at the Shaggy concert on Sunday. I still remember listening and dancing to his songs like 'Hey Sexy Lady' when they would be played over the loudspeakers at the beat shows held on the beaches of Colva when I was younger. So the nostalgia is definitely there.

I do love and enjoy Shaggy's music, so I'm kind of sad I'm not in Goa at the moment. His music back in the 90s was the best reggae after Bob Marley. Now he is much quieter, but he still has that spark. I wish I could hear him singing Boombastic, Strength of a Woman, It Wasn't me, Angel... these are some of the oldies that bring back awesome memories. I hope some one does a FB Live of his performance.

The response to Shaggy's Goa concert has been overwhelming. He is definitely one of the biggest artists Goa has seen in a while. There is a great vibe about this show in Goa....looks like the tide is shifting to live music among Goans. Mostly everyone has heard or grooved to his tracks and they are familiar with his music, not forgetting his latest hit, My Love.
