Started in Mumbai last year, the festival which is touted to be not just a film festival but a festival of art-culture-literature-poetry and cinema with a slogan ‘Cinema for Brotherhood and Humanity' has been organised by INN and Film & Multi-Media Commission in collaborations with JCI, GMA, KMP, University of Mumbai, Films Division and other government agencies.
The first IIFF 2016 Mumbai received 1600 films from 60 countries. 530 films were screened in three screening halls over seven days at Mumbai University's Vidhyanagari, Kalina Campus, SantaCruz, Mumbai from March 16 to 22, in collaboration with Mumbai University organised by INN in association with Films Division, Film & Multi-Media Commission, DECO Film Club, LVPFTA-Chennai, USC-USA etc.
The second edition aims to be more ambitious with screenings both in Goa and Mumbai with a wider range of films and many additional features. The festival which will be organised over seven days starting from September 29 and ending October 5 will feature film screening along with after discussions. Eminent expertise will conduct the master classes-workshops and other artistic-cultural-folk-poetic performances at festival. The festival will be held in collaboration with Government of Goa, in association with JCI-Porvorim, Goa at Goa Museum and Sanskruti Bhavan, Patto, Panaji.
The idea is to provide a new platform for Goan talent-lovers in art, culture, literature, poetry and cinema at IIFF. There will be no theme for festival but the festival will be divided into sections like animation, documentaries, feature and short films. Students, amateurs, professionals or institutions around the globe are all invited to submit their entries for the festival which can be on any subject, languages, length or format. Apart from screening, film makers can also submit their documentary, feature and short films for screening, international marketing, promotions, release and sales. While entry for the festival is free by spot registration, participants and visitors are requested to bring along ID proof.
The Mumbai round on the other hand will be held from October 22 to 28 (10am-10pm) at Films Division Campus. While the last date for submissions for Goa in September 15, for Mumbai, the submissions will close on October 5.
