Intercollegiate fest

Cornucopia 2018, an all Goa inter-higher secondary school (HSS) fest, was organised by Loyola HSS Margao on September 25, 2018. Cornucopia proved to be true to its name, with all participating higher secondary schools displaying an abundance of talent and taking back a bounty of memories and prizes.

The fest had eight competitions. While the coveted overall trophy was taken home by King’s Higher Secondary School, Margao, the best three performances in each competition were given certificates and medals. The organising institution also put up guest performances, and had a variety of foodstalls.

The other HSSs that participated were Fr Agnel’s from Verna,  RMS, Vidya Vikas, and Presentation from Margao, Carmel’s from Nuvem, St Xavier’s from Mapusa, and Rosary’s from Navelim.

The Game of Thrones inspired events were divided into onstage and offstage events. Kaleidoscope, Hexa-Harmony, Quiz, and Battle of Bands were the on-stage events, while Sherlocked, Poetica, Debate, and All Roads Lead to Westeros were the off-stage events.

Kaleidoscope, a dance competition, was a feast for the eyes. The dancers were extremely agile, and their movements graceful and co-ordinated. There were a variety of dances from traditional to gothic.

All Roads Lead to Westeros, a poster competition, was a depiction of colour, art, beauty, and imagination that took one to another realm entirely. Hexa Harmony, an acapella competition, was a wonderful blending of sounds and voices without instruments.Ramchandran Salgaonkar a quizmaster par excellence conducted the quiz, and left the audience well entertained and better informed. The event ‘Sherlocked’ was a treasure hunt of sorts where students had to solve the case of five murders committed by a single murderer. Students had to first find clues, and then analyse them along with the evidence to solve the murder mystery.

The team behind Cornucopia 2018, led by the  HSS council, was enthused by the response and the success of this first-time event.
