Don Bosco College, Panaji, recently held its Investiture Ceremony for the academic year 2019-20 in the bicentenary hall. This is the first ever election based student council of the college. The general secretary (GS) elected for this year is Chic Da Cruz from BBA T&T (Travel and Tourism) while ‘Meteora’ (Annual intercollegiate event hosted by Don Bosco College) chairman is Ethan Mascarenhas from BBA department.
The chief guest for the day was Sulakshana Pramod Sawant, president of the BJP Mahila Morcha, Goa, along with the Goa State Women’s Self-Help Group Association. In addition to these feathers in her cap, she has also been the director of the Jan Vikas Co-op Society, a member of the board of studies for Chemistry; and the president of the Chemistry Teacher’s Association. Being a leader herself, she stood an ideal personality for the occasion.
The ceremony was also graced by other dignitaries, such as the manager of the college, Fr Joaquim Lobo, principal, Dr Cedric Silveira along with staff secretary, Partibha Majik.
On this occasion the manager of the college Fr Joaquim Lobo addressed the audience where he stated the importance of understanding the social nature of a leader and possessing a good heart and mind. He also highlighted the important duties of a leader. While, on the other hand, principal of the college, Dr Cedric Silveira congratulated the newly elected leaders and advised them to work united and energetically for the betterment of this institution. The college newsletter ‘Bosco Beats’, was released at the hands of the chief guest and Vibhav Naik briefed the audience on the same. In his address he said, “This edition highlights the new faces of staff and students joining in on a new venture in Don Bosco.”
The most awaited part of the ceremony, the installation of badges, was then conducted, where the class representatives (CRs) and elected council leaders of different committees such as the cultural, women’s cell, media and publicity, life skill, environmental, sports, newsletter, international students’, Meteora chairman and general secretary were honored with the badges by the respected dignitaries and the chief guest.
