For our very first trailer of 2017, we start with an animated movie. No there’s nothing subliminal here apart from the fact that we thought it would be nice to start off the year with some lighthearted fun. And the movie Leap! certainly seems to be lighthearted. It’s about a young girl and boy, both orphans, who dream of making it big. This is set in France a few centuries ago, judging by the fact that they’re still building the Eiffel Tower. Surprisingly though, most of the characters depicted in the trailer, apart from a very crabby ballet teacher, have American accents. So you know this film is authentic as it gets. Anyway, back to France somewhere in the past. The girl wants to be a dancer, the guy wants to be an inventor. He does show hope, he invented wings that actually lets them fly away from the orphanage. She, on the other hands, becomes household help, and joins ballet school (with said crabby ballet teacher). But, she can’t dance that well. Lo and behold, as luck would have it, her supervisor/landlady apparently knows how to dance ballet. No, we are not making this up! She teaches girl, girl impresses ballet teacher, who is not so crabby. Boy is missing from large part of the trailer so we don’t know much of what happens to him, apart from the fact that this relationship may be platonic.
