Another live-action adaptation of an anime and manga series is coming to the big screen. Fullmetal Alchemist is one of the most beloved Manga ever. And now, for the first time, the world that Hiromu Arakawa crafted is being brought to life on the big screen like never before.
Warner Bros. Japan has released the first trailer for the upcoming live-action movie set for release in 2017. The live-action is directed by Fumihiko Sori, who previously commented on the film’s production saying:
In the film, two alchemist brothers go on a quest for the Philosopher’s Stone after an attempt to revive their dead mother goes horribly wrong.
Based on the manga series written and illustrated by Hiromu Arakawa, was published over nine years from 2001 to 2010 and has been adapted into two anime series previously with and .
It remains to be seen how general audiences will ultimately respond to the live-action Fullmetal Alchemist movie when it finally sees theatrical release. But based on the brief glimpses of footage offered by way of the official teaser trailer alone, Sori looks to have control of the production in a way that should honor manga creator Hiromu Arakawa’s original series in spades.
