Ever wondered what it would be like to live in the Tanner's childhood home? Or what about Buffalo Bill’s home in the Silence of the Lambs or the beautiful floating house from Sleepless in Seattle? Well, guess what. Somebody is already living there. Not just sets, but actual pieces of real estate, here's a list of movie/TV series homes that are on the market or recently changed hands.
Movie: Silence of the Lambs
This Pennsylvanian property may not have a “murder dungeon” in the basement, but it was used to shoot interior and exterior scenes in Jonathan Demme’s Oscar-winning 1991 film. In summer 2015, Scott and Barbara Lloyd were asking $300,000 for the three-storey 19th-century house in Layton, Fayette county. They dropped the asking price to $250,000 that December, and sold it in July 2016 for $195,000.
Movie: Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
Fancy smashing up your dad’s expensive red Ferrari in a symbolic act of rebellion against parental tyranny? The fancy glass-fronted house that featured in John Hughes’ 1986 comedy was sold in 2014 for $1.06m. Located in Highland Park, Illinois, not far from Chicago, the pop-culture landmark was designed by a student of Mies van der Rohe and was sold only after the asking price was reduced from $2.3m to almost half.
Movie: Sleepless in Seattle
Tom Hanks’s 2,700sq feet unique waterfront bolthole, in Nora Ephron’s schmaltzy 1992 romance, has four bedrooms and mooring for a small yacht on Seattle’s Lake Union. It was sold for $2.5m in 2014 to a water-loving executive in the local high-tech industry, who planned to use it as a summer holiday home.
The unique property is one of the largest floating homes in Seattle, and features floating gardens and killer views.
The film has been lucky for the neighborhood as well.
Experts say that the houseboat changed the market in Seattle's South Lake Union, where 20 years later tourists still drive by and take pictures.

Movie: Beverly Hills Cop
A traditional, two-story style and has been impeccably remodeled, complete with crown molding, wood floors and upgraded appliances, The 4-bedroom original Dunphy home sits on a prime street in the coveted Cheviot Hills neighborhood. It became familiar to the millions of Modern Family fans who watched Claire, Phil and their three kids parade through a series of life's more entertaining scenarios. Last sold for $1.97 million in 2006, the asking price for the home this time around is $2.35 million.

Featuring a prohibition-era wet bar hidden behind a false wall, the 1932 property is set in three acres of lushly landscaped grounds on what is now allegedly the largest lot in Santa Monica.

Earliet this year, the Full House Victorian in San Francisco went on the market for the first time in 10 years. Originally constructed in 1883, this 3-bedroom Charles Lewis Hinkel home is one of the city’s finest examples of preserved Italianate Victorian architecture. Located on 1709 Broderick Street, the nearly 3,000 square-foot Victorian doesn’t look anything like the TV version once you step through the double entry doors. Professionally decorated by Courtnay Haden Daniels, the upstairs landing even has a skylight.
Listed at $4.15 million, photos of the renovated home look nothing like the family-friendly pad where Danny Tanner, Uncle Jesse and the rest of the girls hung out during the show that now has a sequel.
