Twitter trends don’t happen the way they used to in the past. Most people aren’t spending as much time on twitter like they used to in the past, during the first five years, for instance (2009 “ 2014). Of course, when there’s a world event, everyone logs in but participation in making a silly hashtag trend doesn’t happen that much.
Once in a while though, there’s a gem of a hashtag, like this one - #BandsToAvoid. This started trending in London around lunch time IST and picked up pace. The idea is to come up with a slightly twisted name of a band, involving one that already exists but changing a word or adding one to give it a weird aura. Like this one, Rage Against the Vending Machine. Take out the word Vending and you have an award winning band. Or, you could make your own name, like Stiff Little Finger, with Petyr Baelish from Game of Thrones as the main man. Here are a few tweets from Ol Blighty to make you laugh
