Every week, around the world, the Alliance Française network fosters bonds between francophone and local culture. France and India recognise that long strides need to be made to address the rapidly escalating issues between over-consumption on the one hand and poverty on the other, both leading to environmental challenges.
"The textile industry is one the world's top five polluters and knowing that a large portion of the clothes on the French market is produced in India, it is our duty and priority to work hand in hand on finding solutions for better practices in the fashion industry," says Weiss, adding, "This festival is our platform to expand the awareness of healthy fashion and the preservation of the planet. We want to celebrate those who are on a journey to create a safer, cleaner and fairer future for fashion."
The aim of this festival is to take sustainable fashion mainstream by bringing new solutions through discussions between textile makers, designers, historians, journalists and people interested in proving that fashion may be fast, but it can be sustainable and ethical. This event is the first step towards bringing awareness about conscious consumption in India especially among young generation and workshops at schools and community events will be held to take this idea to the masses.
