MARGAO/Vasco
In a development which will affect office goers heading to the Port Town of Vasco as well as the commercial capital, the South Western Railway has announced the cancellation of the running of Kulem-Vasco-Kulem passenger train No 56963 from February 4 till March 31, 2019.
The decision is attributed to the ongoing track doubling and maintenance work on the route.
Says Vasco Railway Station Manager P C Chacko, “Train numbers 56964, Vasco Da Gama- Kulem passenger leaving Vasco at 13.10 and 56963, Kulem-Vasco Da Gama passenger train, leaving Kulem at 12.20 every day are cancelled from 04.02.19 to 31.03.19 to facilitate ongoing track doubling work and safety related maintenance work on the section. All other passenger and express train will run as per schedule,” he added.
The Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd has taken up the work on the doubling of the railway track from Kulem to Margao as part of the second phase.
Though the railways have still not got the additional land in their possession, RVNL has already started the work within the property presently in possession of the railways.
