In an effort to preserve and promote the age old tradition of matoli decoration, the Directorate of Art and Culture, Panaji organised a state level matoli competition for households. This year a total of 14 families participated in the competition which saw Datta Shambu Naik walking away with the first prize. Shrikant P Satarkar and Ankush Rama Ozarekar took second and third place respectively. Deepak D Gaonkar, Vishant Vasant Gaude, Tanaji Kashinath Gaude, Ajay Pandurang Satarkar and Mahadev S Gaonkar were awarded consolation prizes. The competition was judged by Rajendra Kerkar, Sudesh Vaze and Kanta Gaude.
