The ABC network has unveiled a new scripted comedy series based on the life of pop sensation Nicki Minaj, in which the singer herself will star and claim an executive production role.
The biographical series will be based on Minaj’s childhood in Queens, following her family’s immigration from Trinidad & Tobago when she was five years old. The pilot episode has been scripted by Kate Angelo, who worked on ‘Will & Grace’, and she’ll be working closely with Minaj in writing the rest of the series. Aaron Kaplan, Stella Bulochnikov, Gee Roberson, and Brian Sher are also on board as executive producers. Minaj had teased the project herself on social media, with the hashtag ‘#NickiSurprise’ trending on Twitter .
