A 47-year-old painter from Uttar Pradesh but residing at Arpora died after he was bitten by a snake at Baga-Arpora on Friday afternoon. According to reports, Jilajit Bind and another painter from UP were residing in a rented room at Arpora. While Bind had taken up a painting contract at a villa in Baga, his friend had taken up a painting contract in Calangute. Both of them left for their respective places of work by bus on Friday morning. Bind alighted at a bus stop in Baga and was walking towards the villa when he was bitten by a snake.
He collapsed on the road, and passers-by later shifted him to the Candolim PHC, from where he was referred to the GMC hospital for further treatment. Bind, however, breathed his last in the afternoon. On receiving news of the incident, Anjuna police conducted a panchnama and registered a case of unnatural death. An autopsy report later confirmed that Bind had died due to the bite of a venomous snake.
