You’ve seen flash mobs around town, where a group of people assemble suddenly and break into a dance in cohesion to music played aloud in a public place. After a few minutes of dancing, the dancers disperse into the seemingly stunned crowds around them and then life goes on as usual.
Bookworm Library in Panaji is giving its own literary twist to the flash mob concept, albeit with a twist. They have organized a poetry mob, where instead of executing dance steps book enthusiasts will emerge out of nowhere and read out poetry. Sounds interesting already?
The poetry mob has been organized as part of the World Poetry Day on March 21.
In the same way that flash mobs share dance in the public sphere, we will share poetry in the public sphere, the organisers of the event have said in their public appeal.
Lovers of poetry, performance, the written word or those who possess a general air of eccentricity have been invited to participate in this unique, one of a kind event, perhaps the first such in Goa.
