Masses, prayers, a brass band and litanies marked the celebration of the feast of one of themost popular saints of the Catholic Church, Saint Anthony on June13 at Marna, Siolim. Founded by Franciscans in 1568, the church dedicated to the saint houses a unique statue of the patron saint on the church frontispiece with a serpent dangling on a rope in his right hand instead of his usual stalk oflilies.
Believed to help find lost property, people of all faiths throng to this church on the occasion of his feast.
