Ancestral Goa, also known as Big Foot Goa is an open-air museum that is located on a hill in the South Goan village of Loutolim. This museum sums up Goa’s rich cultural heritage and portrays Goa as it existed in the days gone by. The museum has on display the different architectural styles used to build houses, the techniques and decorative pieces incorporated within the structure of the house and the materials used to construct it; the various occupations and trades that commonly used to take place in the past.
Ancestral Goa also houses India’s longest laterite sculpture of Sant Mirabai which has entered many record books for being carved by one man Maendra Alvares, on one rock, within a month. Big Foot also has an honour of Goa’s first pictorial cancellation stamp and a magic sculpture called ‘Sangam’ which depicts communal harmony. The place is open Open 365 days from 9am to 6pm.
