IHCL, Goa participated in the Earth Hour in a very unique and innovative exercise keeping in line with the theme this year #Bee4ThePlanet and considering IHCL’c last year’s commitment over giving up plastic straws. Taj Exotica Resort & Spa, Taj Fort Aguada Resort & Spa, Taj Holiday Village Resort & Spa, and Vivanta Panaji organized a host of events for their guests and employees by engaging them in various activities to promote a healthier eco-system.
At Taj Exotica, Benaulim an Earth Walk was arranged for guests which involved a walk within the resort premises to showcase the advantages of planting trees followed by a visit to the resort’s compost area, demonstrating natural ways of recycling garbage and promoting such eco-friendly practices. Guests at Taj Fort Aguada, Sinquerim joined in lighting candles in the lobby to mark their participation during Earth Hour while the guests at Taj Holiday Village, Candolim engaged in star gazing with their young ones engrossed in a fun story telling session. The chefs at Taj Holiday Village put together a delectable green themed snacks menu and the bartenders served organic beverages during the Earth Hour. Vivanta Panaji had an entertaining unplugged performance to keep their guests engaged during this time in the lobby.
Employees across IHCL Goa participated in various environment friendly initiatives through the day including a cleaning drive, making innovative photo booths in line with the theme of “Wealth Out of Waste”, dining in the dark and engaging in the “Waste to Innovation Challenge” where the teams were asked to come up with innovative ideas to convert waste generated within the hotels into valuable products. The most impactful and sustainable initiative will be judged for potential scaling across the company
