Arijit begs Salman

Arijit Singh sent social media into a tizzy when he took to Facebook to post a lengthy letter to Salman Khan where he pleaded with the actor to retain his tune for the Sultan music album. He apologized for apparently insulting him at an earlier award show but stated that he wanted to retire having had the opportunity to have sung at least one song for Salman. Bhai however didn't react to the whole fiasco and the song later became a chart buster in the voice of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan.

A friendship dies

Karan Johar and actors Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol have shared a wonderful rapport for many years but this year certainly changed things after Ajay Devgn's directorial project Shivaay clashed with Karan Johar's Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and neither were willing to shift their dates. Ajay went on to accuse K Jo of having paid 25 lakh to self-proclaimed critic Kamaal R Khan to badmouth Shivaay and a voice recording in KRK's voice that went viral was released to further prove this.

The strange ex story

Buzz refuses to die out about this feud between Hrithik Roshan and Kangana Ranaut and the matter is still in the courts. Things began after Kangana referred to someone as her 'ex' and for some reason Hrithik decided to file a defamation case against her over these comments while maintaining that he had never been in a relationship with her. Private chats and emails were then leaked by both parties and things got murkier with Hrithik then insisting that it wasn't him but the work of an imposter.

Raees vs Kaabil

Not sure what's the deal with these clashes. After Rakesh Roshan announced that his upcoming film Kaabil would release on January 26, the makers of Raees also decided to book the same date for their film release. To avoid the clash Kaabil was then shifted to January 25 but Raees too moved their date to 25th leaving Rakesh fuming.

No Entry for Pakistani actors

Following the Uri terror attack, Bollywood was targeted for casting Pakistani actors in their films. The Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena called for a ban Karan Johar's Ae Dil Hai Mushkil because of the presence of Pakistani star Fawad Khan in the film and after much talk a settlement was reached and Fawad Khan's role in the film was snipped. Pakistani actress Mahira Khan's presence in SRK's Raees also ran into trouble.

Freedom of speech win

The Censor board was attacked for ordering 89 cuts for Udta Punjab and following outrage over this decision producer Anurag Kashyap campaigned to have the film release intact. After The Bombay High Court intervention, only one scene ended up being chopped. The censor board was further accoused of double standards after Aditya Chopra's bold film Befikre which had a lot of kissing scenes and butt flashing was cleared with a U/A cerificate.

Salman Khan said what?

Salman Khan courted controversy in an interview during the promotions for his film Sultan when while talking about the tough wrestling scenes in the film he stated that he felt like a raped woman. Social media erupted in anger demanding his apology with woman panels even demanding that the actor explain himself. The actor however has chosen not to do so.

Naseeruddin attacks Rajesh Khanna

Naseeruddin Shah decided to cause a scandal when he described the late Rajesh Khanna as a "poor actor" and blamed him for bringing "mediocrity" to the film industry. Khanna's daughter, the outspoken Twinkle Khanna was quick to air her opinion on Twitter "Sir if you can't respect the living, respect the dead - mediocrity is attacking a man who can't respond,” she tweeted. "All due regard to Mr Shah's reality. Mine = a man who loved cinema and did films like Anand, Amar Prem, Kati Patang." Naseeruddin Shah is believed to have later apologised.

Priyanka's t-shirt trouble

The actress appeared on the cover of Conde Nast Traveller wearing a t-shirt that had the words 'refugee,' 'immigrant' and 'outsider' crossed out, declaring her a 'traveller.' She was slammed for being insensitive, with people pointing out that being a refugee was not a choice, unlike travelling.
