Goa is well known as a haven for pulsating electronic dance music gigs, so when something like a sitar performance by an acclaimed performer comes knocking, it would be unfair to ignore the calling.
Internationally acclaimed sitar maestro Manab Das will be performing live at the Museum of Goa, located in Pilerne, every Tuesday, between 7 pm to 8: 30 pm. The Museum of Goa is a new centre for the arts set up in Goa and the blending of arts with music, may well be an ideal blend for aficionados tuned in to the finer pleasures of life.
Museum of Goa’s sitar performer Manab Das belongs to Maihar Gharana founded by the great Ustad Allaudin Khan, which has also produced sitar maestros like Pandit Ravi Shankar and Ustad Ali Akbar Khan.
Manab Das has been enthralling audiences from the very young age of nine. Das has also performed all over India and internationally in Europe and the United Kingdom. He has also performed with his sitar on All India Radio and regularly appears in television performances. Manab Das is also associated with the Goa College of Music, Panaji, which is affiliated to Goa University, and has been working at the college as an assistant professor for the last 20 years.
