Protecting and preserving our environment has become a pressing issues in today's day and age and every one of us should take all possible steps to make our planet clean and green. This was the message underscored at the launch of The Goan in School's Green Army initiative.
Green Army was launched on Sunday on the occasion of World Environment Day. The initiative consists of programmes such as workshops on environmental themes and undertaking plantation drives with participation of young volunteers. Green Army was formally unveiled at Caculo Mall in Panaji at the hands of president of Rotary Club and vice president of Caculo Mall, Mr Shashank Mahatme who was in attendance of the function as chief guest. Events held as part of the programme included dance performance by Omi dance group and environment themed quiz for audience where participants received sapplings as prizes.
