Natalie Portman
Know for her work in the Star Wars Trilogy, there is more to Natalie Portman than meets the eye. Born in Jerusalem, Portman migrated to the United States at the age of three. While she was still working in the Star Wars series, she received her BA from Harvard University in Psychology in 2003. Also, she has a talent for languages and speaks fluent Hebrew, French and Japanese. She has also studied ballet and modern dance at the American Theatre Dance Workshop in New York. In 2004, she took a graduate course at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and later was a guest lecturer at Columbia University on the topic...wait for it...terrorism and counter-terrorism!
Hugh Jackman
The invincible Wolverine also stands among the top achievers in the real world. Chosen as school captain during his early years, Jackman spent long hours pouring over the atlas and dreamt of travelling all over the world. The actor earned a BA in Communications from the Sydney University of Technology. In the final year at the University, he took a course in drama to gain additional credits. He later studied acting at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts under Edith Cowan University in Perth, graduating in 1994.
Arnold Schwarzenegger
He might have played a little less intelligent machine in the Terminator movies but Arnie has a lot to his credit apart from his achievements in bodybuilding. The veteran of the Austrian army tank commander moved to the US at the age of 21 with the goal to become one of the country's best body-builders. The actor earned a superior Bachelor's degree in Business and International Economics from the University of Wiscosin in 1980. In 2003 he was elected as the governor of California and in 2004 served as executive editor for the fitness magazines, Muscle & Fitness and Flex. Arnie was re-elected as governor in 2006 and left the office in 2011.
Meryl Streep
Meryl Streep is one of the most successful stars of Hollywood, and there is no doubt that she is a wildly talented actress. While it’s obvious that there’s some major natural talent at play, that didn’t stop Streep from pursuing an education. Streep has a Master of Fine Arts from the Yale School of Drama, and in 1983 the school gave her an honorary Doctorate. Streep has used her training to maintain a very successful career and often passes down her knowledge in master classes at her alma mater.
Emma Watson
After she was featured in the Harry Potter movies, Emma Watson became one of the most famous young actresses in the world.The actress however, didn’t give up on her education. She simultaneously acted and attended Brown University and Oxford University. Watson graduated from Brown with a Bachelor’s in English literature, but admitted that stardom enabled her to design her own major and take independent studies on subjects that weren't on the curriculum and thus learn about the things she really wanted to.
Rowan Atkinson
He may be portraying a selfish and dumb character on screen but Rowan Atkinson is actually one of the most educated celebrities. He graduated from Oxford University with a M Sc in electrical engineering, and was later made an Honorary Fellow of the Queen’s College.Though one would think that his field of expertise has nothing to do with acting, Atkinson actually started performing sketches during his Oxford studies and got his break with the Oxford Revue. When speaking about his beginnings, Atkinson said that he owed much of his fame to the carefree attitude he had when he was a student.
