KINGFISHER
STYLE WEEK
Designer Nazia wants her
first impression to be last
Fashion designer Nazia Syed has just one desire right now “ that her collection which she showcased at the ongoing Kingfisher Ultra Style Week Goa- Season 1 is received well as she has been received here in Goa.
The Chennai-based designer who is on her first trip to Goa has chosen top focus on the mythical fall and rise of the magical Phoenix. “I have chosen to display how the bird is reborn and rises from the ashes again and the range of outfits have been done in greys to signify the ashes and then graduates to orange and flaming reds,” explains Syed.
“The underlined significance is the rise of woman from life's ordeals and how she becomes a different, confident and much more stronger person.” The outfits, she says are done so that they are ideal for both day and night use. “Keeping in mind the summer season, the silhouettes are summery and breezy in materials like chiffon,” she informs. A former engineer, Syed decided to pursue her passion for fashion further and studied in Canada and then at the London College of Fashion. After apprenticing at several local production and fashion houses there, she launched her own label Nazia Syed at her hometown in 2009 and specialises in cocktail wear and opulent wedding dresses. Talking about her observations about Goan fashion, Syed notes that the trend is towards fashion with comfort.
“The fashion is stylish and fun and Goans carry off their outfits well,” she observes. The Kingfisher Ultra Style Week Goa-Season 1 which is being organised by Storm Fashion Company continues in its second day today at Club Tao, Baga.
