The Konkani Song and Music Awards were recently presented at Institute Menezes Braganza, Panaji which saw music composer and arranger Caridade Fernandes alias Babush as the chief guest. The competition which was judged by Fr. Bernardo Cota and Fr. Dominic Alvares saw Sophia Fernandes walk away with the prize for best child singer . Anthony San won for best singer (male) while Sonia Shirsat bagged the spot in the female category. Urja Naik Gaonkar and Swapnil Bandodkar won for best duet while Martha and Sonia won for best duo. Lenoy Gomendes, Jude Rodrigues andAvina Furtado won in the best trio category while Cajetan de Curtorim, Ignatius de Xelvonn, Nazario Pinto and Classy Cardozo won for best quartet. The best choral song went to O’Luv Rodrigues, Queenie Fernandes and Avina Furtado for Khuxalborit Natalam. Noted tiatrist Lawry Travasso won for best lyrics and Frazer Pacheco for best song (Tum Mogacho). 23 Vorsam Somdirant produced by Seby Pinto de Benaulim won for Best Konkani Audio Album of the Year.
