...Spells out need to have nautical college and pier for cruise ships at Dona Paula

“It is important to have a cruise ship pier at Dona Paula, the reason being many of the tourists from American and European countries will get an opportunity to explore and visit new places in Goa,” Vaz said. “Many overseas tourists come to India on cruise to see Taj Mahal and other beautiful places. The benefit of a cruise is the advantage of traveling to multiple countries. Many tourists are now going to Malaysia, Hong Kong, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, as these places have become tourist hubs as well as they provide good facilities and pier for cruise ships.”
“Goa is one such destination where people would like to come, but Goa doesn’t have a cruise ship facility and special terminal. Cochin is the only place which is having a special terminal. What Goa has is a cargo port and not a cruise ship terminal. So if exclusive cruise ship pier comes up in Dona Paula, then it will attract more business and tourists to Goa,” he added.

$10 deduction for seafarers’ fund is a scam, claims Dixon

Stating that 10-dollar deduction from every Indian seafarer, which is deposited in the National Union of Seafarers of India (NUSI) welfare fund, is a huge scam, Goa Seafarers Association President Dixon Vaz has threatened to take the matter to court, if needed, as there is no transparency in the collection of the fund and its benefit for the seafarers.
