American Crime Story
"The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story" proved to be more than just a pop culture obsession, scoring Emmy noms for stars Cuba Gooding Jr. and Courtney B. Vance in the outstanding actor in a miniseries category, Sarah Paulson for lead actress and for best limited series. All told the fictionalised version of the famous case scored 22 Emmy nominations, but failed to top HBO's "Game of Thrones," which came in with 23.
Leading the way
Kyle Chandler, Rami Malek, Bob Odenkirk, Matthew Rhys, Liev Schreiber and Kevin Spacey received nominations for outstanding actor in a drama series while Claire Danes, Viola Davis, Taraji P. Henson, Tatiana Maslany, Keri Russell and Robin Wright will vie for lead actress.

Adele
Adele receives her first nomination for a Primetime Emmy thanks to her NBC televised special, Adele Live in New York City. The concert film performed so well when it first aired, the network ran it again, and both times the singer saw impressive spikes in sales of her latest album, 25, which was the best-selling album of 2015, and is still one of the biggest this year. Adele Live in New York is up for four trophies: Outstanding Variety Special, Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special, Outstanding Technical Direction, Camerawork, Video Control for a Limited Series, Movie, or Special, and Outstanding Lighting Design, Lighting Direction for a Variety Special.
Beyoncé Knowles
Beyoncé is back as an Emmy nominee for a third nonconsecutive year, though she’s never taken home any gold. She is up for more trophies this year thanks to her groundbreaking visual album Lemonade, which premiered on HBO. Lemonade is also in the running for four awards: Outstanding Variety Special, Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special, Outstanding Picture Editing for Variety Programming, and Outstanding Production Design for a Variety, Nonfiction, Event, or Award Special.
