Alongside the ongoing issue of loud music, residents of Anjuna face another significant challenge: unauthorized parking.

The problem has become especially acute during weekends and special events, adding to the frustrations of the local community.

Anjuna’s narrow roads, already congested, are further strained by the influx of tourists flocking to the party zone during peak times.

This surge in vehicle traffic has led to haphazard parking, exacerbating the difficulties for local residents.

Areas like Ganvaddi, Anjuna, and Ozrant are particularly hard-hit, as tourists often park their vehicles on both sides of the roads, further narrowing the already tight streets.

Dr Inacio Fernandes, a resident of Anjuna, described the situation, stating, “Many times these tourists park their vehicles right in front of the gates of the houses. The next morning, when our people need to drop their children to school, they cannot remove their vehicles because of the parked outstation cars.”

This issue not only creates inconvenience but also poses a safety risk, as residents struggle to navigate their vehicles in and out of their driveways.

Adding to the woes, locals report that the Anjuna traffic police have been ineffective in addressing the problem of irregular parking.

Despite the ongoing issues, enforcement has been lax, leaving residents to deal with the consequences of the chaotic parking situation.

Jawish Moniz, another local resident, highlighted additional problems caused by tourists, stating that some individuals engage in unsightly behavior.

“Many of these drunk tourists flung beer bottles in front of the gates of the local residents,” Moniz said.

This careless behaviour compounds the frustration of residents who already face difficulties due to the congested roads.

The lack of proper parking regulations and enforcement not only affects the daily lives of Anjuna’s residents but also raises concerns about the broader impact on the community’s quality of life.

As the village continues to attract large numbers of visitors, addressing the issues of unauthorized parking and maintaining public order remain critical challenges for both local authorities and the community.

The formation is meticulously planned: a strong, sturdy base supports the layers above, culminating in the lightest, most agile child at the top…
