We don’t have a King of Twitter award, but if we did, Virender Sehwag would surely be in the running for the throne. The man may have stopped playing cricket a long time ago but he can still manage to bowl people over or hit them out of the stadium with some amazingly witty tweets on his new playing field “ Twitter.

He’s taken on Piers Morgan, after the latter infamously tweeted about how embarrassing India’s poor medal tally was at the Olympics. His reply, “We cherish every small happiness', But Eng who invented Cricket, & yet 2 win a WC, still continue to play WC. Embarrassing?” got over 20,000 retweets and over 30,000 likes. He went a step further and refused to appear on Times Now, after an invite from Arnab Goswami, stating that “Arnab Goswami wants me to speak on that British guys views on India on NewsHour, but that man doesnt deserve any airtime, hence I have denied”. Followers later cleverly asked whether ‘that man’ was a reference to Piers or Arnab. Sehwag politely declined from elaborating further, but did tweet many of the funny tweets regarding that. The Virender Sehwag-Piers Morgan Twitter war had reached its boiling point with Morgan challenging the Sehwag to donate Rs 1 million to charity if England win an ODI World Cup before India wins an Olympic gold medal. Sehwag also made a sly reference to Shobha De during a congratulatory tweet about Sakshi Malik’s bronze medal and passed a few funny comments about his cricketing peers and rivals too.
The Twitterverse is all the better because of Virender Sehwag, and though a few troll profiles have started to churn out their own funny tweets, the original is still the best. As he was in cricket, so is he on Twitter “ unbeatable!
