People in the forefront of today’s technology have cautioned against artificial intelligence overwhelming mankind as we progress in building robots, androids, cyborgs capable of feelings, emotions and even reproduction, now moving into dangerous territory with xenobots conjured from skin cells of frogs that can reproduce themselves! There are lots of wonderful plus points and also dangerous consequences that may result from biotechnology.
Google tells us about a best seller long back explaining in depth the five laws of human stupidity. It tries to expose our own artificial intelligence. In essence we believe people are intelligent based on their job, education level or other traits. They are not!
In every nation there are stupid professors, people in the UN, politicians and across every category one can imagine. Look at the state of India that is Bharat and world affairs today. Primitive man has progressed to nuclear and digital technology.
We have Chandrayaan on the moon and we have launched a mission to study the sun and our country is now planning a Mars mission. We see ourselves as Vishwaguru to the world, the fastest growing economy; curtains have come down successfully on a 7-star spectacular G20 held in a Rs 2,700 crore luxurious Bharat Madapam in New Delhi. We have the tallest statues, biggest temples, the widest welfare ranging schemes, and are on the way to becoming a world super power. But do we have togetherness, love, joy and peace?
Truly power corrupts and justice delayed is justice denied! In a beautiful world, we progress paradoxily with devastating wars, unsustainable development without proper honest environment impact assessment, which also harms many other species, leading to toxic pollution, climate change, crimes against each other due selfish interests where whole sections of society are divided on monetary, religious, caste and many other grounds whilst we are hypocritically preaching 'Sab ke saath' and unity in diversity whilst spewing hatred right from MPs in the new Parliament building and foisting political clout based on money power, religious bigotry showing zero tolerance for any one dissenting who are then labelled as anti- national, urban naxals, corrupt and a danger to the country’s integrity and sovereignty to be arrested under draconian laws meant for terrorists.
The nation and the courts are watching whilst 90% of these cases are against the opposition which calls the ruling party a 'washing machine' as most of the so called corrupt members having switched sides are now safely ensconced in the ruling party. Democracy is not ideal, but considering human nature, it is the best system to ensure law and equitable justice.
War is too important a matter to be left to the generals and politicians. Envied powerful Israel with its famed armed forces, Iron Dome missile protection, the best intelligence infrastructure and technology in the world, having changed a desert into a fruitful orchard and all things we were seeking to emulate were taken by surprise by Hamas in a ferocious attack that must have been in planning for months! It is clear that the policies of the current Israel government which included extremist and nationalistic personalities who were elected but have divided the country, particularly on judicial reforms.
The resultant street protests that went on for over nine months enveloping all sections of society including the armed forces and veterans were ignored by Parliament! Over the past nine months the government focused on dismantling Israel society and seizing control of power centres. It is not nation building when government destroys unity in diversity and weakens the judiciary and democracy.
Why are all our institutions being dismantled, all power centres seized/ controlled and we are ruled from Delhi? Goa is undemocratically rapidly being converted into a concrete jungle. Only after a lot of protests from locals wanting it to be scrapped, the government of Goa had kept the Pernem draft zoning plan in abeyance. We were told that the decision was taken after consultation with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the central leadership seemingly as though we have become a union territory.
Why was the opposition, public and panchayats not taken into confidence before the draft? It appears that the controversial top down plan was kept on hold as it was threatening the future electoral prospects of several BJP leaders. Elections for forming the government in five states have been announced.
We are now informed the plan is indeed scrapped as the government finds it important to trust the people with a consultative process which will be resorted to before the next draft is made.
Goans have been accused of having too much democracy and opposing any and everything of development that the progressive government planned, which was a result of trust deficit in the undemocratic planning process of the government with lack of transparency and accountability to the stake holders.
Our ruling party led by brand Prime Minister Narendra Modi and people of our nation must learn from the disastrous blow to brand Israel. It is high time the electorate sees through the politics and honestly ponders with simple intelligence: Where is a more religion and less humanity democracy and accountability headed to, with a weak opposition and a powerful government that seems to be increasingly at loggerheads even with our Supreme Court?
