It is not even a month since physical classes for students of Class X and XII, which commenced on November 21, and there have been incidences of infection among teachers and students that have been emerging.
The spurt in Covid cases among teachers and students continued for the fourth day in a two, with a student from a Valpoi school and a teacher from a school testing positive from the institute and the school, as a result has decided to revert to conducting classes for students.
Two more schools in North Goa, including one in Usgao, shut classes after a member each of their school teaching staff tested positive earlier this week.
Meanwhile a higher secondary school in Curchorem has suspended physical classes after one of their students tested positive for the dreaded virus.
It must be said that this is a dangerous trend that is emerging after some schools were allowed to commence physical classes for class X and XII.
It is pertinent to note that children have a lower immunity and hence are vulnerable to the infection. Those students who have tested positive for the virus and even the teachers may have travelled by the school-bus.
Hence there is every possibility of other students catching the virus. It is not known whether this is a first or second wave of the infection. Government needs to have a re-think on the reopening of the other classes and revert all classes of class X and XII to online studies till such time that the threat of the virus disappears.
